Amy Carmichael Part Two~Tea & A Little Girl

Written by Rachael Waite January 22, 2009

ONE DAY AMY AND HER MOTHER went on a trip to a city called Belfast. While they were at Belfast they stopped at a tea room for a special treat. They ate delicious tea and scones. As they enjoyed this treat Amy noticed a little girl outside, peering in the window with hungry, wide eyes. She was dressed in rags, and Amy thought she looked like she was about her age. The little girl gazed at all the wonderful treats Amy was enjoying.

Amy's memory of that little girl never left her. She wrote a poem about the girl.

"When I grow up and money have
I know what I will do;
I'll build a great big lovely place
for little girls like You."

God had a special plan for Amy's life. He was going to use her to save many homeless children like the little girl she saw in rags.

Amy Carmichael Part One~Blue Eyes

Written By Rachael Waite January 19, 2009.

ONCE UPON A TIME, in Ireland there lived a little girl whose name was Amy Carmichael. She was desperate for blue eyes, because she did not like her plain brown ones.

So one night before Amy went to bed, she prayed that God would change her plain brown eyes into beautiful blue ones like the sea. When she awoke the next morning, she peered into a mirror expecting to find her eyes to be blue like the sea. However, when she looked in the mirror the same, plain brown eyes stared back at her.

God had a special purpose for not giving Amy blue eyes that day. Even though Amy did not know why God had given her brown eyes; someday she would understand that she needed to have plain brown eyes to be able to serve the Lord in India as a missionary.
